The Bands
Hot Coffee Breakdown
Hot Coffee Breakdown promises to caffeinate your dancing! Driven by traditional and original tunes from Tom Cunningham's fiery fiddle, and powered by the Latin and rock rhythms of Kate Sanders on keyboard and Luis de Leon on percussion and harmonica, Hot Coffee Breakdown will energize your dance floor with a refreshingly wide variety of contra dance music.
The Dam Beavers are Ben Schreiber on fiddle, Scotty Leach on piano, and Ness Smith-Savedoff on drums. With roots in a wide variety of styles and genres, their music comprises an eclectic mix of old and new, familiar and unfamiliar. Let the current sweep you away as the Dam Beavers build a dam of rhythm beneath your feet.

The Callers
Emily Rush
I fell in love with calling in 2013 after Rick Mohr's week-long workshop at CDSS's Family Week at Timber Ridge.
For me, contra dancing has always been about connection, inclusivity, joy, and play; as a caller I make that my goal for each gig.
My beginner lessons are a mix of movement and cultural introduction, including everything from common dance moves to what to expect (you will mess up -- it's ok!, there's lots of eye contact -- here's why!, something feels off? -- these people are here for you!).
Dancers appreciate my enthusiasm, energy, and my clear calling.
I endeavor to throw in occasional Pro Tips during my dances, either flourishes or gentle reminders for best practices, but fundamentally I believe my role is to get the dance going and get out of the way of the music.
We're here to dance. Let's do it.
Gaye Fifer
Gaye Fifer is an accomplished caller from Pittsburgh, PA. An active dancer herself, Gaye understands the subtleties of making dances particularly satisfying for dancers. Her instructions are clear and concise, as she was a teacher by profession. An easy smile and delightful sense of humor are part of Gaye’s relaxed, pleasant style at the microphone. Gaye calls contra and English dances throughout the U.S. and Canada. She is also an enthusiastic advocate and instructor of contra-style waltz.
Carol Kopp
Carol Kopp is recognized for her calling and teaching skills and her infectious enthusiasm for dance.
Michael Hamilton
Michael Hamilton of Akron, OH is a charismatic and artful caller who chooses the right dances for the situation.
His voice calls you to attention, his instructions compel smiles, and he leads you forward with purpose, direction, and joy. He believes dancers can execute any pattern, and with his guidance they will.
